Sacha Barnes Receive Coveted Environmental Management Certification

Sacha Barnes Ltd were delighted to receive the STEM blue level certification-an environmental accreditation where businesses must put in place an environmental management system.  The STEM (Steps to Environmental Management) accreditation confirms the green credentials of Sacha Barnes and their commitment to the environment.

Businesses benefit from attaining certification by reducing environmental costs through removing inefficiencies and it also helps prepare businesses for attaining the Carbon Trust Standard, BS 8555 or ISO 14001.

The accreditation scheme is run by South East Carbon Hub and involves attending workshops and using their online resources.  STEM has three levels; blue, silver and gold.  These levels correspond to the three phases of the National Standard BS 8555.

In order to achieve the blue level of STEM, Sacha Barnes had to prove:

  • Top level management commitment to the environmental policy.
  • Completion of a baseline environmental assessment.
  • Identification of significant environmental impacts.
  • Completion of a draft Environmental Policy.
  • Collation of environmental performance data.

Sacha Barnes Director, Jeremy Sacha, attended the workshop and completed the necessary work in order to attain the certification.  Joint Director Miriam, said "Sacha Barnes is committed to providing services that are environmentally responsible.  Our customers can be sure that when they use our services, they will have the minimum environmental impact possible."

Jeremy added "Everthing we do has a potential impact on the environment.  Our Environmental Management Policy states that we will constantly review our working activities and services and achieve continuing improvement to minimise our impact on the environment and to achieve positive benefits.  Working towards the STEM Silver Award will be the best way of auditing and proving this commitment.
